Locality: United States, Texas, HARRIS, Near Lake Houston, along road to North Shore development, ca. 2 mi. E of US 59, ca. 1/4 mi. N of Lake Houston. Elev. 65 ft.
Habitat and Description: Edge of dense woods. Dark brown, sandy loam. Pinus taeda-Magnolia grandiflora - Ostrya sp. complex. Tree, 12 mi. Basal diam., 35 cm. Crown diam., 8 m. Rounded, sparingly branched. Bark gray-brown, with even vertically oriented reticulum of ridges ca. 1.5-2 cm. deep. Anthers yellow, becoming brown black. Same tree as Traverse no. 776, collected in fruit. Uncommon in Houston.
