Habitat and Description: Common in open live-oak, post-oak woodland on moderately deep, well-drained, moderately alkaline, brown cobbly loam Typic Ustochrepts (Doudle Series), gravelly hilltop underlain by a sandstone member of Travis Peak Formation (Cretaceous). Herbaceous associates incl: Aristida purpurea, Artemisia ludoviciana, Asclepias asperula, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. hirsuta, Chrysopsis canescens, Cirsium undulatum, Desmanthus velutinous, Erioneuron pilosum, Gaillardia pulchella, Hedioma drummondii, Hedyotis nigricans, Lupinus texensis, Lygodesmia texana, Melampodium leucanthum, Salvia texana, Schizachyrium scoparium, Stillingia texana, Thelesperma simplicifolium.
