Habitat and Description: Frequent in various clayey soils over limestone, sparsely vegetated portions of midgrass grassland on gently rolling upland. Herbaceous associates include Aristida purpurea, Bothriochloa saccharoides, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. rigidiseta, Eriochloa sericea, Erioneuron pilosum, Schizachyrium scoparium, Sorghastrum nutans, Stipa leucotricha, Asclepias asperula, Ambrosia psilostachys, Bifora americana, Centaurea americana, Centaurium texense, Cirsium undulatum, Cymopterus macrorhizus, Dalea tenuis, Dyschoriste linearis, Engelmannia pinnatifida, Erigeron strigosus, Gaillardia pulchella, Gaura suffulta, Hedyotis nigricans, Hymenoxys scaposa, Indigofera miniata, Krameria lanceolata, Liatris punctata, Lindheimera texana, Monarda citriodora, Penstemon cobaea, Phyllanthus polygonoides, Rudbeckia hirta, Salvia texana, Verbena bipinnatifida.
