Habitat and Description: Shrub to 2 m. tall; frequent in mixed woodland in mesic canyon on N-facing igneous slope (Barrel Springs Formation). Woody associates include Adolphia infesta, Aloysia wrightii, Arbutus xalapensis, Baccharis bigelovii, Bouvardia ternifolia, Celtis reticulata, Cercocarpus montanus, Croton fruticulosus, Fendlera rupicola, Forestiera neomexicana, Juniperus deppeana, Leucaena retusa, Mimosa biuncifera, Morus microphylla, Nolina texana, Opuntia imbricata, Pinus cembroides, Ptelea trifoliata, Quercus emoryi, Q. grisea, Q. gravesii, Rhamnus serrata, Rhus aromatica, Symphoricarpos palmeri, Ungnadia speciosa, Vitis arizonica.
