Habitat and Description: Rare in seasonally moist depressions in openings in Quercus stellata-Juniperus virginiana (Prosopis glandulosa) woodlands on slightly acid fine sandy loams over Carrizo Sand (Eocene), sometimes over claypan. Associates include Paspalum plicatulum, Andropogon ternarius, Bothriochloa ischaemum, a seeded form of Panicum virgatum, Eupatorium serotinum, E. compositifolium, Verbena halei, Hypericum drummondii, Polygala incarnata, Helenium amarum, Fimbristylis puberula, Baccharis halmifolia, Lechea san-sabeana, L. mucronata, Tradescantia humilis.
