Habitat and Description: Rare in dry sandy soil in barrens-like openings of post oak-live oak-blackjack oak-eastern red cedar woodland. Barrens dominated by Bigelowia nuttallii and Aristida oligantha; other species in area include Andropogon ternarius, Aster pratensis, Ascyrum hypericoides, Baptisia leucophaea, Croton capitatus, Dichanthelium spp., Eragrostis secundiflora, Hypericum drummondii, Ilex vomitoria, Juniperus virginiana, Liatris aspera, L. cymosa, Palafoxia rosea, Paspalum floridanum, Polypremum procumbens, Quercus marilandica, Q. stellata, Q. virginiana, Schizachyrium scoparium, Spiranthes spp., Vaccinium arboreum.
