Locality: United States, Texas, Polk, Big Thicket National Preserve, Big Sandy Unit; W side of F.M. 1276, 2.0-2.5 roadmiles NW of its jct. with Sunflower Rd. at Dallardsville, within triangle bounded by F.M. 1276 and two unmarked forest roads that intersect it from the W. Dallardsville Quadrangle. Elev. 300 - 320 ft.

Habitat and Description: Occasional in recently burned open mixed pine-oak forest on moderately well-drained sandy loam on low hilltop underlain by Fleming Formation. Herbaceous associates include Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Andropogon ternarius, A. elliottii, Aristida sp., Aristolochia reticulata, Baptisia leucophaea, Berlandiera pumila, Carex complanata, Cirsium horridulum, Cnidoscolus texanus, Croton argyranthemus, Dichanthelium dichotomum, D. lanuginosum, D. laxiflorum, D. oligosanthes, Drosera brevifolia, Erigeron strigosus, Eupatorium compositifolium, Euphorbia corollata, Hedyotis australis, Helianthemum carolinianum, Pteridium aquilinum, Rhynchosia americana, Rudbeckia sp., Scleria ciliata, Scutellaria parvula, Sphenopholis filiformis, Tephrosia virginiana, Tragia urticifolia, Verbena canadensis, Vernonia texana.
