Habitat and Description: Common in wet clay in depressions in open-canopy live oak - water oak bottomland forest. Associates include Callicarpa americana, Celtis laevigata, Ilex vomitoria, Quercus virginiana, Quercus nigra, Sabal minor, Ulmus crassifolia, Viburnum dentatum, Carex cherokeensis, C. lupulina, Centunculus minimus, Dichanthelium spp., Myosotis macrosperma, Oplismenus setarius, Samolus parviflorus.
