Habitat and Description: Common on soggy alluvial clay in partially shaded creekbed in bottom of steep forested ravines in Fleming Clay (Miocene). Associates include Bidens frondosa, Boehmeria cylindrica, Cyperus acuminatus, C. brevifolius, C. odoratus, Desmodium paniculatum, Echinochloa crus-galli, Eleusine indica, Eupatorium serotinum, Hydrocotyle verticillata, Leersia virginica, Lycopus sp., Mecardonia acuminata, Mikania scandens, Mitreola petiolata, Panicum anceps, Penthorum sedoides, Pluchea camphorata, Rhynchospora corniculata, Samolus parviflorus.
