Habitat and Description: Occasional patches in heavy clay (Ferris Series, Udorthentic Chromusterts) in blackland prairie opening in loblolly pine forest, somewhat eroded slope with little perennial grass cover. Associates include Carex microdonta, Schizachyrium scoparium, Salvia lyrata, Cacalia plantaginea, Erigeron tenuis, Eustoma grandiflorum, Onosmodium occidentale, Valerianella radiata, Centaurea americana, Monarda sp., Allium canadense var. fraseri, Iva angustifolia.
