Locality: United States, Texas, Brown, Just E of 90ยก bend in main road in NW corner of annex just E of dam on tank on Devils River, ca, 1.0-1.1 airmiles ESE of NW corner of annex, ca. 4.0 airmiles SE of jct. F.M. 2126 and St. Rt. 45 S of Brownwood. Indian Creek Quadrangle. Elev. 1510 - 1520 ft.

Habitat and Description: Scaly-barked shin oak to 8-10 ft. tall; frequent in midgrass grassland with dense oak shinneries and mottes of Texas oak, Ashe juniper, etc., in grayish brown gravelly clay loam on more or less level upland. Geology: limestone of Travis Peak Formation (Cretaceous). Soils: probably Real soils, shallow, well drained, moderately alkaline, brown, very gravelly clay loam Typic Calciustolls. Associates include Argythamnia aphoroides, Aristida purpurea var. wrightii, Bothriochloa ischaemum, Bouteloua hirsuta, Bouteloua trifida, Carex planostachys, Desmanthus velutinus, Dichanthelium oligosanthes, Erioneuron pilosum, Gutierrezia sp., Krameria lanceolata, Linum hudsonioides, Melampodium leucanthum, Pediomuleum latestipulatum, Phyllanthus polygonoides, Salvia texana, Sarcostemma crispum, Schizachyrium scoparium, Senna roemeriana, Sida abutifolia, Simsia calva, Sisyrinchium scabrum, Solidago radula, Sporobolus asper, Stillingia texana, Thamnosma texana, Thelesperma simplicifolium, Tridens muticus, Bumelia lanuginosa, Forestiera pubescens, Juniperus ashei, Quercus buckleyi, Q. fusiformis, Rhus trilobata var. trilobata, R. toxicodendron, Smilax bona-nox.
