Habitat and Description: Common in deep, well drained, slightly acid loamy fine sand (Bastsil Series, Udic Paleustalfs), open grassy oldfield, level upland underlain by Quaternary terrace deposits. Associates include Lechea mucronata, L. tenuifolia, Monarda punctata, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Andropogon ternarius, Juncus marginatus, Stylosanthes biflora, Heterotheca pilosa, Rudbeckia hirta, Ambrosia psilostachya, Croton capitatus, Helianthemum sp., Oenothera rhombipetala.
