Habitat and Description: Common in well drained sand or sandy loam over Paluxy Formation, in grassy openings in post oak-blackjack oak woodland. Associates include Aristida longespica, Elymus canadensis, Eragrostis secundiflora,E. sessilispica, Fimbristylis puberula, Paspalum setaceum, Poa arachnifera, Schizachyrium, scoparium, Aster pratensis, Callirhoe involucrata, Cnidoscolus texanus, Croton glandulosus, Diodia teres, Euphorbia tetrapora, Gaillardia pulchella, Helianthemum sp., Krameria lanceolata, Lechea san-sabeana, Lespedeza stuevei, Liatris punctata, Lotus purshianus, Lygodesmia texana, Matelea biflora, Monarda clinopodioides, Penstemon laxiflorus, Phlox pilosa, Polygala verticillata, Xanthisma texanum.
