Habitat and Description: Occasional in loose dry noncalcareous fine sand loam over caliche and sandstone of the Goliad Formation (Pliocene), in openings in shrubland in dry ramadero. Woody associates include Aloysia gratissima, Castela erecta, Celtis pallida, Cordia boissieri, Eysenhardtia texana, Guaiacum angustifolium, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Lantana macropoda, Leucaena pulverulenta, Leucophyllum frutescens, Lippia graveolens, Lycium berlandieri, Malpighia glabra, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Pithecellobium ebano, P. pallens, Prosopis glandulosa, Salvia ballotiflora.
