Habitat and Description: Common in moderately deep, well drained, moderately alkaline, brown cobbly loam Typic Ustochrepts (Doudle Series) in open live oak-post oak woodland on +/- level upland underlain by a calcareous sandstone of Travis Peak Formation (Cretaceous). Associates include Aristida purpurea, Bothriochloa saccharoides, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. rigidiseta, Bromus pubescens, Carex planostachys, Chaetopappa asteroides, Cirsium undulatum, Eragrostis intermedia, E. sessilispica, Eurytaenia texana, Lechea san-sabeana, Monarda citriodora, Rudbeckia hirta, Salvia texana, Schizachyrium scoparium, Stipa leucotricha.
