Habitat and Description: Common in well drained, noncalcareous, reddish fine sandy loam over sandstone and caliche of Goliad Formation (Pliocene), in very open, heavily grazed mesquite woodland on level upland. Herbaceous associates include Aristida purpurea, Cenchrus incertus, Chamaesyce glyptosperma, Croton capitatus, C. glandulosus, Dichanthium annulatum, Diodia teres, Froelichia sp., Hermannia texana, Indigofera miniata, Matelea parviflora, Palafoxia texana, Schrankia latidens, Sida ciliaris, Xanthisma texanum, Waltheria indica, Zornia bracteata.
