Habitat and Description: Seeded?; scattered on eroded slopes and in openings in Quercus stellata-Juniperus virginiana (-Prosopis glandulosa) woodlands on slightly acid fine sandy loams over Carrizo Sand (Eocene), sometimes over claypan. Associates include Paspalum plicatulum, Andropogon ternarius, Bothriochloa ischaemum, a seeded form of Panicum virgatum, Coreopsis basalis, Eupatorium serotinum, E. compositifolium, Ptilimnium capillaceum, Verbena halei, Hypericum drummondii, Polygala incarnata, Helenium amarum, Fimbristylis puberula, Baccharis halimifolia, Lechea san-sabeana, L. mucronata, Tradescantia humilis.
