Habitat and Description: Lower S-facing rocky slope underlain by Catahoula Formation. Common in sandy loam in longleaf pine-loblolly pine forest with open understory. Associates include Pinus palustris, P. taeda, P. echinata, Quercus spp., Liatris elegans, Gymnopogon ambiguus, Croton argyranthemus, Sporobolus junceus, Stylosanthes biflora, Aristida longespica var. longespica.
