Habitat and Description: Rare in deep, moderately well drained, neutral fine sand Grossarenic Paleustalfs (Patilo Series) over clayey sediments of the Calvert Bluff Formation (Eocene), in small opening in post oak-blackjack oak - eastern red cedar woodland on moderate slope. Associates include Ascyrum hypericoides, Callicarpa americana, Carya texana, Ilex vomitoria, Juniperus virginiana, Opuntia cf. macrorhiza, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Quercus Marilandica, Quercus stellata, Rhus aromatica, Rubus trivialis, Vitis aestivalis, Vitis mustangenis, Aristida lanosa, Carex muhlenbergii, Dichanthelium oligosanthes, Galium pilosum, Gnaphalium obtusifolium, Lespedeza hirta, Mentzelia sp., Passiflora lutea, Verbesina virginica.
