Habitat and Description: Common in deep, neutral, loose, somewhat excessively drained fine sand (Galveston Series, Typic Udipsamments) in sparsely vegetated clearing on Pleistocene-era relict barrier island dune otherwise supporting live oak-redbay woodland. Associates include Ascyrum hypericoides, Aristida longespica, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Chamaesyce cordifolia, Croptilon divaricatum, Croton argyranthemus, Digitaria texana, Diodia teres, Eragrostis secundiflora, Paspalum setaceum, Polanisia erosa, Paronychia drummondii, Polygonella polygama.
