Habitat and Description: A low diffuse herb. Open ground. Perennial. Soil: sandy. Flowers: dioecious, terminal spikes, red, no odor. Leaves: long petioled orbicular-reniform. Fruit: a small capsule. Bark: reddish. Roots: long tap-root. Abundant in dry sandy open ground.
