Locality: United States, Texas, San Patricio, Welder Wildlife Foundation, N of Sinton. Ca. 0.5 miles SW Eagle Bend of Aransas River, 0.3 miles SW of Venado Tank. Elev. 50 ft.
Habitat and Description: Open prairie. This sp. especially abundant along road. Gray-buff, somewhat sandy, loose silt. Herbaceous complex. Perennial herb, 15 - 20 cm. Procumbent, flowering branches ascending, slightly bushy. Reddish floral parts give male spikes reddish cast. White anthers. Reddish style branches.
