Habitat and Description: Frequent in reddish brown fine sandy loam Ustollic Paleargids (Randado Series) over Golid Formation caliche, openings in mixed mesquite - blackbrush shrubland on dry level upland. Associates include Acacia berlandieri, A. rigidula, A. smallii, Celtis pallida, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Cordia boissieri, Croton incanus, Diospros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Forestiera angustifolia, Guaiacum angustifolium, Jatropha dioida, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Leucophyllum frutesens, Prosopis glandulosa, Salvia ballotaeflora, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Waltheria indica, Cardiospermum dissectum, Florestina tripteris, Heliotropium texanum, Herissantia crispa, Melampoduim cinereum, Oxalis dichondrifolia, Palafoxia texana, Sclerocarpus uniserialis, Simsia calva.
