Habitat and Description: Habit erect, slender, herb in tufts; habitat moist or wet ground; annual; perennial roots; soil clay; flowers are on terminal tapering spikes; color cream; odor none; month Mar.-Jun.; leaves are basal and sheathed, sheaths reddish; fruit is on a terminal spike; bark green; roots fibrous. Occasional. The stems are slender, tall, bright green, smooth, and mostly clustered or tufted.
