Habitat and Description: Locally common in moist, poorly drained, moderately alkaline fine sand (Mustang Series, Typic Psammaquents) in seasonally dry bottom of natural ephemeral freshwater pothole pond among live oak-redbay woodlands on Pleistocene-era barrier island. Associates include Agalinis fasciculata, Bacopa monnieri, Buchnera floridana, Cyperus acuminatus, Eleocharis cf. montividensis, Fuirena scirpoides, F. cf. simplex, Juncus validus, Rhynchospora fascicularis, Spiranthes vernalis, Typha domingensis.
