Habitat and Description: Rare in heavy black clay underlain by Beaumont Formation (Pleistocene), in mesquite-invaded, heavily grazed pasture of Dichanthium annulatum. Associates include Cenchrus ciliaris, Aphanostephus ramosissimus, Malvastrum coromandelianum, Ambrosia psilostachya, Helenium badium, Cirsium texanum, Oenothera speciosa, Chloris cucullata, C. ciliata, C. latesquamea, Ammoselinum popei, Solanum elaeagnifolium, Verbena bipinnatifida, Daucus pusillus, and a minor host of other weeds.
