Habitat and Description: Rare in shortgrass grassland dotted with Nolina texana, on fine-textured tight gravelly clay soils on gently sloping valley between igneous slopes. Other associates include Aphanostephus sp., Astragalus mollissimus var. marcidus, A. wootonii, Berlandiera lyrata, Bouteloua cf. gracilis, Chaetopappa ericoides, Croton pottsii, Evax verna, Gaura coccinea, Lesquerella fendleri, Linum puberulum, Machaeranthera sp., Mentzelia multiflora, Nama sp., Psilostrophe sp., Sphaeralcea coccinea, Tetraneuris scaposa, Yucca elata.
