Habitat and Description: Occasional in open shrubland on gravelly clay soils on +/- level colluvial footslope above floodplain of Independence Creek. Woody associates include Agave lechuguilla, Berberis trifoliata, Colubrina texensis, Croton dioicus, Dalea formosa, Dasylirion texanum, Diospyros texana, Echinocactus sp., Ephedra antisyphilitica, Guaiacum angustifolium, Juniperus pinchotii, Mimosa sp., Opuntia lindheimeri, O. schottii, Opuntia lindheimeri, Purshia ericifolia, Rhus microphylla, Tiquilia canescens, Yucca treculeana, Yucca constricta, Ziziphus obtusifolia. Interesting herbaceous species include Chaetopappa bellioides, Gilia rigidula, Asclepias scaposa, Hymenoxys scaposa, Cryptantha mexicana, Plantago patagonica var. spinulosa, Dyssodia micropoides.
