Habitat and Description: Local in ungrazed, frequently burned, transitional coastal prairie on poorly drained, mildly alkaline, slightly saline dark clay Typic Pelluderts (Francitas Series), on level landscape over Beaumont Formation. Often in low, relatively sparse vegetation with Aristida oligantha, A. longespica, A. purpurascens. Other associates include Agalinis oligophylla, Ambrosia psilostachya, Aristida purpurascens, Boltonia diffusa, Borrichia frutescens, Eragrostis spectabilis, Eryngium yuccifolium, Euthamia leptocephala, E. pulverulenta, Hedyotis nigricans, Iva angustifolia, Liatris bracteata, Liatris pycnostachya, Lythrum lanceolatum, Manfreda virginica, Muhlenbergia capillaris, Paspalum pubiflorum, Schizachyrium scoparium, Schrankia hystericina, Sida lindheimeri, Solidago sempervirens, Spartina patens, S. spartinae, Sporobolus asper var. drummondii, Tridens strictus.
