Habitat and Description: Habit: a tall erect tufted grass. Habitat: roadsides, fields, etc. Soil: clay. Flowers terminal, paniculate. Leaves are long linear, from stems and below. Fruit are on a spike. Bark: green. Roots: perennial. It matures in the autumn and is abundant in large colonies along the highways.
