Habitat and Description: Mesic, partially calcareous, ravine forests. Geology- Weches/ Reklaw/ Carizzo/ Wilcox Formations transect (Eocene). Community dominated by Fagus grandifolia, Quercus alba- Q. shumardii. Associates include Hamamelis virginiana, Styrax grandifolia, Acer leucoderme, Ilex longipes, Uvularia perfoliata, Smilax pumila, Polystichum acrostichoides, Lilium michauxii, Sanguinaria canadensis, Erythronium rostratum, Viburnum acerifolium, Trillium gracile, Viola walteri, and Solidago auriculata.
