Habitat and Description: Rare in blackbrush-cenizo shrubland in red sandy loam over sandstone and caliche of the goliad Formation (Pliocene). Woody associates include Acacia greggii, Acacia rigidula, Acacia smallii, Aloysia gratissima, Bumelia celastrina, Celtis pallida, Cordia boissieri, Croton incanus, Diospyros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Forestiera angustifolia, Guaiacum angustifolium, Gymnosperma glutinosum, Jatropha dioica, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Lantana horrida, Leucophyllum frutescens, Lippia graveolens, Prosopis glandulosa, Prosopis reptans, Salvia ballotiflora, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Wedelia hispida, Yucca treculeana, Zanthoxylum fagara, Ziziphus obtusifolius, Ancistrocactus scheeri, Ferocactus setispeinus, Opuntia leptocaulis, Opuntia lindheimeri.
