Habitat and Description: Common in deep, loose, well drained, noncalcareous, brownish-gray loamy fine sand (Comitas Series, Aridic Paleustalfs), in overgrazed grassland on gently rolling upland with scattered mesquite. Associates include Tephrosia lindheimeri, Eurytaenia texana, Rhynchosia americana, Cnidoscolus texanus, Nama hispidum, Acalypha radins, Eragrostis secundiflora, Chloris cucullata, Pediomelum rhombifolium, Sphaeralcea pedatifida, Cryptantha texana, Monarda fruticulosa, Waltheria indica, Colubrina texensis, Schrankia latidens.
