Habitat and Description:
Occasional along margin of blackland prairie on heavy clay Vertisols (Ferris series), large opening in loblolly pine forest on lower slope. Associates include Aristida oligantha, Paspalum floridanum, Grindelia squarrosa, Bothriochloa saccharoides, Iva angustifolia, Andropogon glomeratus, A. virginicus, Rudbeckia hirta, Eustoma grandiflorum, Verbena xutha, Sporobolus asper.
