Habitat and Description: Frequent in openings in medium-tall shrubland on deep, gently sloping, well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline, saline clay loam Ustollic Camborthids (Point Isabel Series), on top of Pleistocene clay dune (loma). Woody associates include Acacia rigidula, Atriplex acanthocarpa, Castela texana, Celtis pallida, Cissus incisa, Citharexylum berlandieri, Croton humilis, Dalea scandens var. paucifolia, Ericameria austrotexana, Forestiera angustifolia, Gymnopserma glutinosum, Hibiscus martianus, Isocoma drummondii, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Lycium berlandieri, Maytenus phyllanthoides, Phaulathamnus spinescens, Prosopis reptans, Randia rhagocarpa, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Wedelia hispida, Ycca treculeana, Zanthoxylum fagara, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
