Habitat and Description: Shrub to 3 ft. Common in mixed shrubland on well drained calcareous strongly alkaline somewhat saline clay loam Ustollic Camborthids (Point Isabel series), top of clay dune. Woody associates include Atriplex acanthocarpa, Bumelia celastrina, Castela texana, Celtis pallida, Citharexylum berlandieri, Croton humilis, Dalea scandens var. paucifolia, Ericameria austrotexana, Forestiera angustifolia, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Lycium berlandieri, Maytenus phyllanthoides, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Prosopis glandulosa, Prosopis reptans, Schaefferia cunei-folia, Trixis inula, Wedelia hispida, Yucca treculeana, Zanthoxylum fagara, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
