Habitat and Description: Herb or weak shrub; disk corollas liliac-purple; local in shade of tall brush in deep, somewhat poorly drained, noncalcareous clay loam Typic Argiaquolls (Rio Series) in small wooded ramadero (pothole) in otherwise sandy upland underlain by sandstone and caliche of the Goliad Formation (Pliocene). Associates include Celtis pallida, Cordia boissieri, Pithecellobium ebano, Prosopis glandulosa, Randia rhagocarpa, Zanthoxylum fagara, Acleisanthes obtusa, Passiflora tenuiloba, Verbesina microptera, Dichondra caroliniensis.
