Locality: United States, Texas, Cameron, Lower Rio Grande Valley national Wildlife Refuge, Ranchito Tract; 10-200 ft E of bend in Resaca del Rancho Viejo at a point ca. 0.5-0.6 mi ESE of southern of two bridges (over Resaca del Rancho Viejo) on Rice Tract Road, or ca. 2.6 airmiles N to NNE of jct. US Rt. 281 and F. M. 1577 at Ranchito. Olmito Quadrangle (2609715). Elev. 40 ft.

Habitat and Description: Weak-stemmed shrub; disk corolla bluish-lavender; fairly common in ebony dominated mostly evergreen subtropical woodland or low forest along resaca; in deep, nearly level, well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline, silty clay loam Fluventic Haplustolls (Laredo Series) over Holocene floodplain deposits. Woody associates include Amyris madrensis, Bernardia myricifolia, Bumelia celastrina, Celtis pallida, Chiococca alba, Cocculus diversifolius, Condalia hookeri, Cordia boissieri, Ehretia anacua, Esenbeckia runyonii, Forestiera angustifolia, Guaiacum angustifolium, Mimosa malacophylla, Iresine palmeri, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Pisonia aculeata, Pithecellobium ebano, Pithecellobium pallens, Randia rhagocarpa, Urvillea ulmacea, Xylosma flexuosa, Zanthoxylum fagara. Herbaceous associates include Panicum maximum, Eupatorium odoratum, Passiflora filipes, Petiveria alliacea, Rivina humilis, Verbesina microptera.
