Habitat and Description: Occasional in slightly acid fine sandy loam Alfisols (Freestone Series) in shortleaf pine- oak savannah on level upland. Associates include Schizachyrium scoparium, Andropogon spp., Rudbeckia hirta, Lechea mucronata, Helianthus mollis, Tridens flavus, Stylosanthes biflora, Heterotheca pilosa, Liatris elegans, Gymnopogon ambiguus, Solidago nitida, Aster patens, Agalinis gattingeri, A. tenuifolia, Eragrostis spectabilis, Muhlenbergia capillaris.
