Habitat and Description: Shrub 3-6 ft. tall; corollas purple or dark lavender; frequent in deep, well drained, calcareous clay loam Ustollic Camborthids (Port Isabel Series) at base of clay dune (loma). Woody associates include Acacia rigidula, Amyris madrensis, Bumelia celastrina, Castela texana, Celtis pallida, Cissus incisa, Citharexylium berlandieri, Croton humilis, Dalea scandens var. paucifolia, Ericameria austrotexana, Forestiera angustifolia, Guaiacumangustifolium Isocoma drummondii, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Koeberliana spinosa, Lantana macropoda, Leucophyllum frutescens, Lycium berlandieri, Maytenus phyllanthoides, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Pithecellobium ebano, Prosopis glandulosa, P. reptans, Solanum triquetrum, Trixis inula, Yucca treculeana, Zanthoxylum fagara, Ziziphus obtusifolius, Echinocactus texensis, Mammillaria heyderi, Opuntia lindheimeri.
