Locality: United States, Texas, Bastrop, 1.8 mi SE of McDade along old Hwy (SR 223 spur) by railroad track.
Habitat and Description: Sandy soils of white loose sand; Carrizo formation; Post Oak- Juniper with scattered Quercus incana and Polygonella americana, Crotonopsis linearis, Liatris elegans (yellow), Cnidoscolus texanus Schizachyrium scoparium; burned 1-2 yrs ago. Population of 1000's of individuals along railroad track; all with phyllaries yellow, older heads with whiter phyllaries; fls white; 0.6 m.
