United States, Texas, Medina, Ca. 3.5 miles E of Devine center; from I-35 frontage road north 0.8 miles of FM 173, thence east on dirt rd ca. 3.0 miles to a 90 degree bend in the road to the south. South side of road.
Habitat and Description:
In grassy sandy field with Eriogonum multiflorum, Schizachyrium scoparium, Cnidoscolus and Opuntia. Several erect stems to 2 meters tall; corms elongate fusiform; roots extending beyond 25 cm deep in very loose sand; bracts lavender-purple.
