Habitat and Description: Perennial to 4 ft tall; phyllaries with cornflower blue margin; disk flowers bright whites; abundant in pasture on loose sandy soil derived from Carrizo Sand. Associates include Helianthus debilis, Schizachyrium scoparium, Lechea tenuifolia, Gaillardia pulchella, Croton capitatus, C. glandulosus, Froelichia floridana, Mentzelia nuda. Adjacent woodland mostly Quercus stellata, Q. marilandica, Carya texana.
