Habitat and Description:
In sandy soil, loose grey sand over hard red sand/sandstone. Quercus marilandica - Q. stellata sandhill woodland, with openings dominated by Schizachyrium scoparium; Carrizo Formation. Flowers mostly white, faintly pink and long-exerted from the involucres, tube flared, lobes reflexed; phyllaries bluish-petaloid; one plant. [Mayfield's 1994 annotation more specifically is L. elegans var. carizzana X L. punctata var. punctata. Mayfield wrote directly on sheet: "F1 Hybrid". See Mayfield 1560 & 1562 for putative parents.].
