Habitat and Description:
In a vacant lot. Scrubby hammocks of Live Oak and Ilex vomitoria with intervening grassy, open, seasonally wet, swales. Uncommon on higher areas around Oak hummocks. Possibly introgressed by L. pycnostachya with which it is growing. Note phyllary shape, color. [Mayfield (1994) more specifically annotated as L. elegans var. carizzana (arrow towards] L. pycnostachya, and added directly on sheet: "Parent Taxon". He considers this a parent of a L. pycnostachya X elegans var. carizzana hybrid; see also Mayfield 1531, 1533, 1534 for complete hybrid series.].
