Locality: United States, Texas, Angelina, Ca. 6 air mi S Zavalla and ca. 1 mi E of US 69 on blacktop forest service road parallel to and just north of the Jasper co. line.
Habitat and Description: Mixed secondary pine/hardwood forest with openings along road; soils: sandy loam; only one plant of this type seen, flowers light pink and long-exerted from the involucres, phyllary margins slightly colored and extended apically. [Note: fragments of the 2 putative parent species (colls. 1785 & 1782) are included on the sheet.].
