Habitat and Description: Old-growth, burned, dry upland longleaf pine savannah. Geology- Catahoula Formation (Miocene). Soils- Letney (Arenic Paleudults). [Mayfield's complete 1994 annotation: Liatris elegans var. elegans (arrow towards) L. tenuis; added in pencil "Parent Species". See Orzell & Bridges 11418 for elegans X tenuis hybrid.].
