Habitat and Description:
Frequent in blackland prairie on heavy clay Vertisols (Ferris series), large opening in loblolly pine forest on lower slope. Associates include Aristida oligantha, Iva angustifolia, Paspalum floridanum, Grindelia squarrosa, bothriochloa saccharoides, Andropogon glomeratus, A. virginicus, Rudbeckia hirta, Eustoma grandiflorum, Verbena xutha, Sporobolus asper.
