Habitat and Description: Frequent in sandy loam in more than portions of overgrown longleaf pine savanna on convex upland underlain by Willis Formation. Associates include Andropogon virginicus, Aristolochia reticulata, Asclepias variegata, Baptisia leucophaea, B. nuttalliana, Berlandiera pumila, Clematis reticulata, Cnidoscolus texanus, Coreopsis lanceolata, Croton argyranthemus, Crotonopsis elliptia, various Dichanthelium spp., Echinacea angustifolia, Euphorbia corollata, Eustylis purpurea, Helianthus angustifolius, Hedeoma hispidum, Helianthemum carolinianum, Heterotheca graminifolia, Hymenopappus artemisiifolia, Liatris elegans, Matelea cynanchoides, Penstemon laxiflorus, Phlox pilosa ssp. pulcherrima, Polygala nana, Polypremum procumbens, Pteridium aquilinum, Rhychosia americana, Rhynchospora harveyi, Schizachyrium scoparium, Scutellaria integrifolia, Solidago odora, Stillingia sylvatica, Tragia smallii, Vernonia texana.
