Habitat and Description: Occasional in deep, moderately well drained, neutral, loose fine sand (Patilo Series, Grossarenic Paleustalfs) over sediments of Calvert Bluff Formation (Eocene), early successional grassland along margin of post oak woodland. Associates include Schizachyrium scoparium, Vulpia octoflora, Berlandiera pumila, Castilleja indivisa, Cnidoscolus texanus, Croptilon divaricatum, Evax candida, Hymenopappus artemisiifolius, Linaria texana, Loeflingia squarrosa, Matelea cynanchoides, Oenothera laciniata, Phlox drummondii, Polypremum procumbens, Senecio ampullaceus.
